Are We There Yet?

Patience has never been my strong suit. I like to know what is going on. I like knowing the who, what, where, when, why and how, which probably explains why journalism appealed to me in college.

Don’t get me wrong - I like surprises, and regardless of what past blogs have said, I can keep a secret. But I don’t like uncertainty. So I am trying very hard with this Vegas trip to not be the annoying over-planner. I don’t have to plan out every second of my day when I travel, but I do like knowing the basics. And I am proud to say I have not called Mr. I-Had-A-Bad-Day-So-I-Quit-Blogging-Forever once yet about logistics. Do I pack a sleeping bag because there will be 47 people sleeping in one bedroom? Who knows? I’ve got plenty of room in my bag so I’ll throw on in there just in case. Do I owe someone money for fake Price Is Right tickets or are we getting them there? Who knows? I am sure someone will ask me for money if I owe them. And I am pretty sure no one besides me would buy tickets in advance anyway. When I get off the plane am I going to hop in a cab or take a shuttle to the strip? How many people are actually going to be there and what the hell am I going to talk to them about? I am going to have to get really drunk for that one because I am not a huge fan of being the one infiltrator in a group of BFF’s.

All that aside, I am starting to get really excited about going. I was trying not to get excited about this trip because when I am excited about something, it usually ends up disappointing me. But I am so ready for a vacation. Getting the hell out of DC, even for a weekend, is definitely in order. And who knows what will happen? That’s part of the appeal of this trip. Blowing off some steam and not knowing what's going to happen. I can't fucking wait.

My roomate in college got so shit-faced in vegas he shit his pants in a cab while going to cesears. Needless to say we kicked him out of the cab.

i am not trying to plan the trip, i'd just like to know if i have a place to sleep or not. that doesn't really feel like overplanning to me. and it would be nice to have a ball park figure of how many people are going to be there, but i don't really care one way or the other, i am just curious.

have you been to vegas before? I can say that even on carefully planned trips to Vegas I have ended up sleeping in some pretty random/strange places and nothing ever quite goes the way it's planned.

kdonk,
i'm friends with Mr. I-had-a-bad-day-so-i-quit-blogging-forever. I will be happy to answer any questions you have about the trip.

-Yes, Pack a sleeping bag. The suite we have is huge, but there might not be enough beds/couches for everyone.
-You do not owe anyone money for fake price is right tickets. No one has purchased any as of yet. If someone does purchase them, we will get one for you.
-When you get off the plane, how you get to the suite is really up to you. A cab is quick and expensive (about $30), and a shuttle is much cheaper but takes a lot longer. You could always try giving Mr. I-Hate-blogging a call too, and if none of us are shitfaced we could pick you up (in all likelyhood we will be shitfaced, but try anyway)
-As for the number of people there, it should be between 14-18. I'm sure you will not have a hard time finding something to talk to any of us about.
-Yes, get really shitfaced...we all will be.

I hope that helps with some of your worries.

matt
